“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius power and magic in it. Begin it now.” This quote reminds me of what the late Steve Jobs said, “Stay hungry. Stay foolish”. Those were the words that he lived by. And Steve wasn’t just a billionaire, that’s secondary, he contributed to the world by advancing technology so loved ones, friends, families, and even strangers could connect easier and be more intimate.
Could Steve have lived his dreams and help millions of people connect more intimately if he didn’t dream or was bold in his endeavors? Absolutely not.
But dreaming, and staying hungry and foolish are only the first part of the equation. You do not have to be a Steve Jobs and run a massive computer software business to make a difference in the world. The way you make a difference is by living up to your dreams and ambitions. It doesn’t matter what the world thinks. If you follow what the world wants of you, then the dream is not yours, it’s someone else’s. How can you stay hungry and foolish living someone else’s dream?
What is it that you always wanted to be?
What have you always wanted to do?
What is the gift you possess that you want to give to the world?
Do not listen to the world. The world wants you to stay small, meek, and mild so it can control and overpower you. The world will offer you financial security and retirement and protection of your family if you do what it says - get educated, get a job, listen to your government, play it safe, and save your money.
These structures are designed to keep you in a box, so you do not wreak havoc and chaos on the established order. The world fears change because that means social structures have to change. However, change is all there is. Nothing is ever static. The law of growth says that everything is in a constant flux, and you are either growing or dying - it’s scientific proof.
Which side of the fence do you want to be on? The side in which you continually grow? Or the side that is a few more shovels of dirt from covering your grave?
When you do not dream, and do not entertain the idea that your dream is possible, you’re on the wrong side of the fence. You will close yourself down; live small; and be trapped in an illusion. You may say, “Ignorance is bliss”, but that’s fear talking. As you live your small, boxed in life, a desire to be more and do more flickers within. The safe life you believe to be living has the underlying vibration of dissatisfaction. That’s because the life that you are wants to grow. Why not let it grow?
Awaken the dragon in your belly by dreaming what you really want to be, do, and give to others in the world. Sit for the next 15 minutes and let your imagination run wild. If money were not an object, and you had all the talents and resources needed, who would you be? What are you doing? And what are you giving? This is the fire in your belly, and it’s absolutely essential for being bold and powerful to live your dream.
Begin It Now
The second part of the equation is to take your hunger and foolishness and start now. I know, your dream is so big and may take a lifetime. But do you know what the secret is to achieving your grandiose dream? The secret is that dreams are not suppose to ever be achieved. That’s right, living your dream is going to be a lifetime journey through a corn maze. You will have ups and downs, lefts and rights, periods of time that seem like you’re standing still, and acceleration periods of reaching milestone after milestone.
This should be a huge weight off your back - knowing that your dream is an on-going journey never to be achieved. The pressure and overwhelm to get somewhere is now removed. You can easily relax into whatever needs to done in this moment that’s aligned with your dream.
“Begin it now” means to take any action step that’s in alignment with your dreams, and available to you in this moment, given your time and place in life. For example, let’s say that your dream is to write fiction stories that intertwine with spiritual teachings. You can envision your books published that provide entertainment and conscious growth to millions of people. You can see yourself at book signings and giving talks on stage throughout different parts of the world. Some of your published books have even turned into movies and become top box office hits.
This is the power of your imagination. But keeping the dream locked up in your imagination does nothing. So, given your dream, what small action step can you take in the next 24 hours. Well, in the example above, the writer can start a blog and post a few short stories online. She could write stories in her journal and do writing exercises. She could develop a story idea and write a page a day. Then, by the end of the year, she has two books written.
Do you get the point? You have to take some kind of action and start somewhere. Because the final secret to living your dreams is this: when you take any action step that is in alignment with your dream, the next action that is needed will become available.
It does not mater if the action step was a success, failure, good, or bad. You are an intelligent human being and will learn, adjust, and adapt to be more effective the next time.
Who knows... maybe a publisher accidently stumbled upon the young fiction writer’s blog and loved her short stories. Thus, the publisher contacted the writer and offered her a book deal. You will never know the possibilities unless you take a chance and begin it now.
When you have a burning desire to be something more and contribute your gifts to the world, you must let yourself dream. If money was not an object, and you had all the talents and resources needed, who would you be? What would you do? What gifts would you contribute to the world?
Get the fire in your belly by dreaming big. Then, once the flame is burning strong, take any action available to you given your present time and place in life. The action step does not have to be big, but it has to be something. Because when you take any action that’s in alignment with your dreams, the next action will become available.
Begin it now. Do it now. Get going.
